Toboggan Run

The Pokagon State Park Toboggan Run is officially open for the season.

ANGOLA, Ind. (WFFT) -- The Pokagon State Park Toboggan Run is officially open for the season.

The ride runs Saturdays and Sundays 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. through February 26.

Nicky Ball with the park expects about 100,000 people to ride this year.

She says it's one of only two refrigerated toboggan runs in the Midwest and its history since 1938 makes it a time-honored tradition for many families.

"People really feel nostalgia when they're here. They kinda feel like it's up north, it's Christmassy, it's wintery and it's thrilling, so it's kinda like riding a rollercoaster in the wintertime," Ball said.

she says the ride has a 90 foot vertical drop and lasts 20-30 seconds.

Riders should bring a pair of gloves, a Driver’s license or State issued ID and $20 per toboggan per hour.

Entrance to the park is an addition $7 for an in-state vehicle and $9 for an out-of-state vehicle.
