FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - This weekend will be the last chance for guests to visit many Northeast Indiana pools.
Fort Wayne's Parks and Recreation Department will be wrapping up its summer swim season Saturday.
Northside Pool will close at 5 p.m. McMillen Pool unexpectedly closed Monday due to staffing shortages.
Officials say it would be difficult to remain open through Labor Day with most of the pool’s staff and visitors heading back to school.
"This season went so extremely well, and our workers worked tirelessly this summer making sure that the pools were safe," said Aquatics Department Lead Supervisor Jenny Barney. "So it’s a sigh of relief, but also sad because it’s kind of your family going in different directions. Then we’ll come back in may and start over again."
Fort Wayne’s splash pads will remain open for the immediate future. No closing date has been announced.
Jury Pool in New Haven will wrap up its season Sunday.
