436-stop. allen county was just designated as a high intensity drug trafficking area meaning federal funding will be available to help fight it.fox 55's cody butler has more. fort wayne and allen county has a growing drug problem. nate moellering grew up here and suffered from substance abuse disorder. that was about five years ago. now moellering helps other people get clean at the fort wayne recovery center.he says having the white house designate allen county as a high intensity drug trafficking area will help others like him. fort wayne police say so far this year ... 60 people died from overdoses.that's down significantly from 2017 when more than 100 people in the city died from an o-d.but fort wayne police say that's because the drugs in the area are changing. 3 3 moellering says whatever they do ... they need to act fast because younger people are getting hooked on drugs. captain hunter says not every community that applies to be a high intensity drug trafficking area gets the designation.he adds the problem would still be here without the extra help.in fort wayne ... cody butler ... fox 55 news. it's not clear when allen county will start to see money from the program.capitan hunter says at first we'll see a portion of another area's funding
