WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Andrew Lawvere had two of Purdue Fort Wayne baseball's eight hits in their 11-2 loss at Purdue on Wednesday (April 24) evening.
The Boilermakers held only a 10-8 advantage in hits on Wednesday but five of Purdue's hits went for extra bases.
The Mastodons scored both of their runs in the fifth inning. Jack Lang singled in Lawvere and Trenton Stoner knocked in Lang to make the score 4-2 in favor of Purdue. But the bottom of the fifth saw the Boilermakers put a six-spot on the board to take control of the contest.
Shane Odzark started for the 'Dons and went 4.0 innings to earn the loss. Tyler Kissinger and Duane Miller each tossed a scoreless inning of relief for the Mastodons. Patrick J Smith earned the win for Purdue. Zac Fascio had two hits and four RBI for Purdue at the plate.
Purdue is now 15-25. The 'Dons fall to 5-33. Purdue Fort Wayne hosts Oral Roberts on Friday at 3 p.m. in Summit League play.
