LAGRANGE, Ind. (WFFT) - Thanks to the Indianapolis Colts and UnitedHealthcare, the Prairie Heights football team now has $25,000 to spend on brand new helmets.
The donation comes as part of the HELMETS program, which according to UHC is, "an ongoing effort between the Colts and UnitedHealthcare to enhance the health and safety of young athletes in the Hoosier state through proper equipment, education and training."
During the 2019 NFL regular season, the Panthers won a fan vote that put them into a group of 18 finalists.
Fellow NECC foe Churubusco was also among that group.
The Colts announced Prairie Heights as the winner last week via Zoom.
Head Coach Patrick McCrea says he anticipates being able to buy between 50-75 brand new helmets with the donation.
