FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Fort Wayne native Zach McKinstry is hoping to make his MLB debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers at some point this summer.
The North Side High School grad is entering his fifth year with the Dodgers organization.
McKinstry finished last season on a high note, hitting .382 to go along with 7 home runs and 26 RBI in just 26 games with Triple-A Oklahoma City.
The 33rd round draft pick out of Central Michigan carried that momentum with him into spring training, where he hit over .400 in 14 appearances with the big club earlier this year.
McKinstry will report to Los Angeles for training camp, which is set to begin on July 3.
Opening Day is scheduled for July 24.
