The Fort Wayne Mad Ants defeated the Windy City Bulls, 119-107, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Friday night in front of a crowd of 3.883. The win secured the No. 2 seed in the NBA G League Playoffs as well as the central division title.
The Mad Ants (29-20) will return to postseason play for the fifth time in six years. The win also positions Fort Wayne to have the opportunity to reach 30 wins in the regular season tomorrow night for only the third time in franchise history. Fort Wayne will travel to Erie to take on the BayHawks at 7 p.m.
DeQuan Jones led the Mad Ants in scoring with a 28-point performance and added seven rebounds.
Walt Lemon Jr. continued his outstanding play with 22 points and 13 rebounds. The NBA G League Player of the Month in November led the Mad Ants in assists for the 30th game this season.
Stephan Hicks and Jarrod Uthoff combined for 36 points on 11-of-15 shooting as the other Mad Ant starters to finish in double figures.
Ben Moore followed Hicks and Uthoff’s efficiency with 19 points on 7-of-8 shooting off the bench.
Windy City (23-26) was able to get back to within five points of the Mad Ants lead before being outscored by seven in the remaining quarter. The Mad Ants finish the season series with a perfect 4-0 record against their central division counterparts.
The Bulls were led by 26 and 25 points from Mychal Mulder and Alex Hamilton off the bench.
Windy City will close out the regular season tomorrow night with a home game against Greensboro.
