FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Fort Wayne Mad Ants, presented by Lutheran Health Network, the NBA G League affiliate of the Indiana Pacers, announced today they have acquired the player rights to forward Omari Johnson from the Memphis Hustle in exchange for the returning player rights to forward Jarrod Uthoff and guard Chris Fowler.
In 44 games last season, Johnson started 38 games for the Memphis Hustle. He averaged 16.5 points and 6.4 rebounds in 27.9 minutes per game during the 2017-18 season.
Johnson earned a call-up to the Memphis Grizzlies and appeared in four games at the end of the 2017-18 season. He averaged 5.5 points and 2.8 rebounds, including a career-high 13 points at the Oklahoma City Thunder on April 11.
The Los Angeles native also played with the Golden State Warriors’ Summer League team during this past offseason.
The Oregon State University product played with the Maine Red Claws from 2014-16, averaging 15.6 points per game and more than 6.0 rebounds in both seasons.
Johnson played in 120 games at Oregon State from 2007-11. He led the Beavers in total rebounds during his senior season in 2010-11 and was second on the team in minutes played that year.
