Komets clip Cyclones to secure three seed in central divsion

The Komets stopped the Cincinnati Cyclones 5-3 Saturday night and clinched third place in the Central division. The win sets the stage for the Central division semifinals of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs against the Toledo Walleye starting Friday, April 12, at the Huntington Center in Toledo at 7:35pm. The best-of-seven series will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format.

Fort Wayne, IN-- The Komets stopped the Cincinnati Cyclones 5-3 Saturday night and clinched third place in the Central division. The win sets the stage for the Central division semifinals of the ECHL Kelly Cup Playoffs against the Toledo Walleye starting Friday, April 12, at the Huntington Center in Toledo at 7:35pm. The best-of-seven series will follow a 2-2-1-1-1 format.

It will be the third straight season the Komets and Walleye have met in the post-season and fourth since joining the ECHL. The Komets are 1-2 in the previous three match-ups after eliminating Toledo last year 4-2 in the second round. It's the sixth time Fort Wayne has qualified for the Kelly Cup playoffs. It's the 58th playoff appearance in the 67-year history of the Komets.

The Komets will cap the regular season schedule with a 5pm faceofff against the Wheeling Nailers Sunday on Sweetwater Ice at the Memorial Coliseum.

Season Ticket Recycling Night Sunday-- Sunday is another Season Ticket Recycling game when the Komets host the Nailers for the regular season finale. Komet Season Ticket Holders will be able to exchange any unused Komet tickets from previously scheduled home games this year for tickets to the game Sunday.

Komets Season Ending Awards Sunday-- The annual presentation of Komet team awards will be held immediately following Sunday's game against Wheeling. The Komets will honor the Defenseman of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Player, the True Komet award, Mr. Hustle award, Unsung Hero, Best Defensive Forward and Most Valuable Player of 2018-19 as voted by team personnel and local media with trophy presentations after the game.
