FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Girls soccer sectionals began Tuesday night in Northeast Indiana, and in action seen on FOX 55, Blackhawk Christian and Bishop Dwenger kept their seasons alive with wins.
1A's third ranked Blackhawk downed Canterbury 3-0 behind a first half goal from Elly Plant. The Braves took a 1-0 lead to halftime before adding two more in the second half in their Sectional 40 victory. They'll face Woodlan Thursday at 7 p.m.
Bishop Dwenger's two second half goals propelled them to a 2-0 win over Concordia Lutheran in Sectional 22 at Leo. McKenna Kleinrichert got the Saints on the board in the 59th minute off a corner kick from Mackenzie Christle. Nearly five minutes later, after a hand ball in the box, Erynn Burns buried a penalty kick to give the Saints the 2-0 lead. Dwenger moves on to face Columbia City Thursday at 7 p.m.
