FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Blackhawk Christian senior big man Caleb Furst was named one of the six finalists for the state's Mr. Basketball award.
A Purdue recruit, Furst averaged 21.4 points, 14.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game as a senior, leading the Braves to the Class 2A state championship, where he scored 20 points with seven rebounds and six blocks in a 55-40 victory over Parke Heritage.
Furst finished his high school career with 2,087 points and 1,253 rebounds.
He helped Blackhawk to 105 victories in his four years, with four sectional titles, three regional titles and two state championships, one in Class 1A, and the other in 2A.
The other five finalists for the award are:

- Luke Brown, Blackford
- Trey Kaufman-Renn, Silver Creek
- J.R. Konieczny, South Bend St. Joseph
Mr. Basketball is awarded to the senior who receives the most votes from the state’s high school coaches and media.
The winner of the award will be announced Friday.
