FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The COVID-19 pandemic has started to send waves through area sports, causing suspensions and cancelations of multiple different sporting seasons.
Purdue Fort Wayne has canceled all spring sporting events through the rest of the 2019-20 academic school year, while the NCAA as a whole has canceled all winter and spring championships.
The NAIA canceled their winter championships, including the Division II men's and women's basketball tournaments, which the Indiana Tech and Saint Francis men's and women's basketball teams were a part of.
The IHSAA announced that the boys basketball state tournament would proceed as planned, but with limited spectatorship.
The IHSAA also announced the gymnastics state finals would continue, but without any spectators allowed.
