FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – The Delaware Blue Coats (7-12) defeated the Fort Wayne Mad Ants, 115-100, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum on Friday night. The Blue Coats got off to a hot start, taking a 14-point lead into the break. Fort Wayne (9-9) took the lead on the first bucket of the fourth quarter, but a 35-point quarter sealed the deal for Delaware.
The Blue Coats shot 48 percent from the floor in the victory, hitting 13 three-point shots, while also knocking down over 95 percent of their free throws (20-for-21). Jared Brownridge and Haywood Highsmith combined to shoot 11-15 from beyond the arc in the win.
Philadelphia 76ers two-way guard Shake Milton led the Blue Coats with 27 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Brownridge, Highsmith and Cameron Oliver joined Milton as the other three Delaware players to score at least 20 points in the winning effort. Oliver added a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
The win ended a four-game losing streak for a Blue Coats team that had also lost seven of its last eight matchups.
Rob Gray led the scoring effort for the Mad Ants with 18 off the bench, while Indiana Pacers assignees Alize Johnson and Ike Anigbogu added double-double performances. Johnson scored 17 points and added 14 rebounds, while Anigbogu added 13 and a game-high 16 rebounds.
Stephan Hicks chipped in with 13 points to move into third place on the Mad Ants all-time scoring list.
Fort Wayne will play their first ever home game away from the Coliseum on Sunday afternoon at Trine University against the Greensboro Swarm. Delaware is back in action tomorrow, taking on the Erie Bayhawks at 7 p.m. at Erie Insurance Arena.
