FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Fort Wayne FC is pleased to announce DaMarcus Beasley has joined as co-owner while the team enters the United Soccer League (USL).
The club will compete in the Great Lakes Division of USL League Two for both the 2021 and 2022 seasons before advancing to USL League One in 2023.
“We are very excited to welcome DaMarcus to the ownership group and join the USL, starting with our inaugural season in 2021,” said President of Fort Wayne FC Dr. Erik Magner. “We believe that both DaMarcus and the USL are great partners for us in supporting our plans to enter the professional ranks.”
In joining League Two, Fort Wayne FC will offer a proven pathway to professional soccer for its players, both those at the elite collegiate level and the top academy-age players from the region.
On top of the valuable experience of playing in the nation’s most competitive pre-professional environment, League Two also provides growth opportunities for its coaches, executives and communities.

The club’s vision is to provide a stepping stone for young and talented soccer players from the large pool of youth and young adult players in Fort Wayne and Northeast Indiana and has a mission is to make soccer the preeminent sport in Fort Wayne and the surrounding region.
Moving toward its ultimate goal of participating in League One, Fort Wayne FC will aim to launch its professional efforts in the years to come, backed by an expanded ownership group and vision for professional soccer in the Fort Wayne area.
As co-owner, former U.S. men’s national team and MLS star DaMarcus Beasley will have a firsthand role in growing and promoting the club.
“Being involved with a group to bring professional soccer to my hometown is truly a dream come true,” said Beasley. “I’m extremely excited to get started with this new challenge and to work side by side with the Fort Wayne community.”
As part of the USL family of clubs, the league will provide strong corporate partnerships and stable organizational leadership, employing a dedicated staff of more than 60 professionals across 17 departments ranging from operations, digital, communications and club services.
