BERNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The South Adams Starfires begin our coverage of the ACAC in the 2020 FOX 55 Countdown to Kickoff.
The Starfires were one of the best teams in the state in Class 1A last season, going 12-1, while averaging nearly 44 points per game on offense, while surrendering less than 10 points per game on defense.
South Adams won their first ACAC crown in 26 years, and also claimed a sectional title before being tripped up in regionals by rival Adams Central.
The Stars return 17 seniors from last season, including gunslinger James Arnold at quarterback, who threw for 3,168 yards and 43 touchdowns.
The team also returns his top four targets from a year ago in Aidan Wanner, Christian Summersett, Nick Miller and Drew Stutzman, who accounted for over 3,700 all purpose yards for the team.
South Adams is bound to be one of the favorites in the ACAC and Class 1A once again this season, but they're taking a different approach to things this time around.
They'll open the season at home against Winchester on Aug. 21.
