Woman critically hurt after car crash

A woman is in critical condition after a car crash Friday morning.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- A woman is in critical condition after a car crash Friday morning.

It happened around 7:20 a.m. on State Blvd. and Wood Valley Drive. The woman crashed her SUV into a stand of mature trees. Fort Wayne firefighters had to extricate her from the vehicle.

The woman was transported to a local hospital where she was listed in critical condition.

Phyiscal evidence at the scene indicates she was traveling east at a high rate of speed when she drove left of the center, crossed the opposing lane of traffic, and crashed into the trees.

Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
