Valles Marineris, or Mariner Valley, is a vast canyon system that runs along the Martian equator just east of the Tharsis region.

NASA released new images of the canyon which is coined as the largest canyon known in our solar system.
According to NASA, Valles Marineris Canyon is 2,500 miles long and it reaches depths of nearly five miles.
The canyon on Mars is as long as the United States!
Scientists at the University of Arizona captured the image by using the High-Resolution Imaging Science Experiment onboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter.
It is the most powerful camera ever sent to another planet.
