FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — A quick moving system brought a wintry mix to northeast Indiana and northwest Ohio Thursday afternoon and evening.
Snowfall rates exceeded 1” per hour which resulted in reduced visibility and snow quickly piling up on the roadways.

The system impacted the evening commute and multiple accidents were reported across the region due to slick roadways.

What started as a wet, heavy snow transitioned to snow and sleet during the evening commute.
It later changed to a cold rain and then back to all snow by the time it wrapped up near midnight.

While the intense snow made for terrible driving conditions, it made for beautiful scenery across parts of Indiana and Ohio.
The Fort Wayne International Airport registered a snowfall total of 2.0 inches Thursday which brings the seasonal snowfall total to 15.6 inches.

At this time, the city is currently sitting at a deficit of 6.4 inches for the 2020-2021 season.
