FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - One of the best ways to prevent illness is avoiding exposure, and the CDC said one of the ways to do that is by wearing a mask.
"My husband works with covid patients. we operate under the assumption we could be spreaders since our family has that close contact," Molly Golglazier said.
In some states, it's become mandatory to wear one and people here are getting ahead by ordering from people who make them like Rita Right.
"I make them. In fact my daughter makes them and she's just over run with orders because of that," Right said.
Sandy Lortie of Community Home Health said a homemade mask is better than nothing in a public space so if you can get one like the kind Rita makes then that's good, but Lortie said a simple cloth bandana works too.
"We don't know who is asymptomatic, and if they were to cough, and if we're walking behind them, the air particles that they are breathing can follow behind them and land on us. At least through having a mask on it filters what we are breathing," Lortie explained.
