WABASH, Ind. (WFFT) -- Indiana State Police are investigating after police in Wabash shot a 51-year-old man while serving a search warrant at a home Tuesday night.
Indiana State Police say officers from the Wabash County Sheriff's Department and Wabash Police Department entered the home at 309 W. Maple St. around 8:30 p.m.
That's when they say a deputy saw a man who he thought was holding a handgun.
The deputy fired at least one time and wounded the man.
The man, whose identity was not released, was taken to a Fort Wayne hospital.
ISP says the suspect remains in the hospital and is now stable. No officers were injured.
State police say the search warrant was part of an active narcotics investigation.
This incident remains under investigation.
