As the COVID-19 pandemic causes some businesses to close down, others open the door of opportunity.

VAN WERT, Ohio (WFFT) — As the COVID-19 pandemic causes some businesses to close down, others open the door of opportunity.

The Van Wert Salvation Army said they are closing down their thrift store until Ohio's quarantine ends, but will mobilize their food pantry.

However, they are still serving the community by providing meals to those who need it.

Joshua Brookman with the Van Wert Salvation Army says so far they have delivered 68 food boxes to the community and they plan on visiting more places next week.

I wanted to give an update on our response here in Van Wert County.

The food pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 3 p.m.

Brookman says they are delivering food boxes to those people that can’t make it to the pantry.
