Two dead, three hurt in nearly head-on crash in Huntington County

A 1998 Buick was eastbound on SR 16 when it went off the south shoulder. The driver attempted to regain control, but over corrected and hit a Chevy Silverado nearly head-on.

HUNTINGTON COUNTY, Ind. (WFFT)- Two people are dead and three others were hurt after a nearly head-on crash in Huntington County Sunday morning.

Police were called around 11:15 a.m. to SR 16 west of CR 635. A 1998 Buick was eastbound on SR 16 when it went off the south shoulder. The driver attempted to regain control, but over corrected and hit a Chevy Silverado nearly head-on.

The driver and the passenger in the Buick were dead at the scene. 54-year-old David Boyd was taken to the hospital by ambulance. His passengers, 42-year-old Valerie Boyd and 11-year-old Carter Rodgers were airlifted to Parkview Regional Medical Center.

Police are still investigating the crash.

The names of those who died in the crash will be released after the family is notified.
