FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — A toddler who was injured in an early morning house fire on the southwest side of Fort Wayne Thursday has died, according to the Allen County Coroner's Office.
Just after 4:45 a.m. Thursday the Fort Wayne Fire Department responded to the 3800 block of Chancery Place regarding a house fire.
Firefighters said they rescued a woman and her three children from the burning home.
FWFD said all four people were reportedly injured according to authorities.
On Friday morning the Allen County coroner said one of the children died after being transported to the hospital for her injuries.
The coroner identified the victim as 2-year-old Hazel DeFord of Fort Wayne.
The coroner said her autopsy was completed, but Hazel's cause of death and manner of death are both pending.
The incident remains under investigation by authorities in Allen County.
