Thousands of people attended the celebrating with the standards such has hot dogs, chips, chili and children's activities.
Several unions come together and start planning the event in February because they feel it is important for the community.
"Today is the day where we just take a minute, we celebrate, we get with our families, our friends, our co-workers. We just take a couple hours to celebrate with our city. We are grateful to give this back," said Darryl Esterline, who was the co-chair for this year's picnic.
The picnic is put together entirely by volunteers and donations.
