FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Since the closure of the Hillegas and West Coliseum intersection, it's been smooth sailing for workers at the Fort Wayne Truck Center.

"There are maybe three people that had to take the longer route," general manager Tracy Walters said.

Tracy Walters said there hasn't been much traffic which helps get around a little better, but for others who take Goshen Road to get to Hillegas, it's a guaranteed back up for commuting.

She's one of many ready for the construction to be over.

TRAFFIC UPDATES: LANE CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS TO EXPECT IN FORT WAYNE

Even though the bridge is almost complete Nicole Thomas with the Indiana Department Of Transportation said they will open the bridge and intersection at the same time.

"Last year we did the bridge over U.S. 30, and the bridge was closed, so in advance of doing all of that, we reached out to all of the business owners on that corridor to ensure they knew what our plan was going to be," Thomas said.

The second phase is still in process.

INDOT closed off this intersection back in early September.

For the most part, she says they're right on schedule.

"We do expect all of that work to wrap up here relatively soon by the end of November. Weather permitting though. We did have that first snow on Monday so usually when the snow comes down that usually causes delays, but again we do expect it to be open by the end of November," Thomas said.
