The first annual Adult Pinewood Derby kicks off Saturday

Prepare for 480 inches of wood and aluminum track to take over Hop River Brewing Company's patio for the afternoon.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Hop River Brewing Company, Phil's Hobby Shop, and the Allen County Public Library hosted the first annual Fort Wayne 480 Adult Pinewood Derby race on Saturday, May 18, at Hop River Brewing.

People are encouraged to bring their signs, checkered flags, and spinning wheels. The cars will be racing on Hop River Brewing's patio.

Contestants can build a new car or bring along one from the garage.

There are three categories your race car can fit in:

Cub Scout Class (the "original rules")

Unlimited Class (heavier weight and fewer restrictions on design)

Show Class (Coolest design; open to all cars, whether you race or not)

1st Place in each class gets their name on the Fort Wayne 480 Trophy, Hop River gear, and bragging rights for a year.

2nd & 3rd Place gets Hop River gear and a pat on the back.
