FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Barrett and Stokely Incorporated announced plans for a 12,000 square foot facility that includes 232 apartments, 662 parking spaces in a new parking garage as well as several other amenities Thursday.
"We have retail. We hope to get some coffee shops on the Superior side of the building. Club Soda stays where it is," Rex Barrett with Barrett and Stokely said.
Barrett and Stokely is also building the Promenade Park living and retail development nearby.
They’re working on addressing concerns about parking and the floodplain.
"There is obviously environmental issues here and the process for mediation of environmental issues is going to take a while," he said.
Rex Barrett said they're still waiting on a few approvals including the Economic Development Agreement which must be signed off by Fort Wayne’s Development Commission.
Councilman Geoff Paddock said he likes what he sees so far.
"There's a lot of potential here, a lot of positive things, a lot of logistics to work out," Paddock said.
Mayor Tom Henry said the project will pull more people downtown which will keep it growing and thriving.
Construction is expected to start in late 2019 or early 2020 and will take a year and a half to complete.
