FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The Art Leadership Center, also known as the ALC, is a program for children and young adults.
The program is showcasing its young talent all throughout Fort Wayne for Black History month.
Founder and CEO Adrian Curry and the students in the program made their first stop at Turner Chapel A.M.E. for their first ever Black History month tour.
Turner Chapel is historically Fort Wayne's oldest black church.
During service, the church was able to experience the art of stepping from the youth ranging from ages 5 through 18.
Curry has been teaching history and culture for 15 years through step and dance.
"We actually went on break December 28th which was the Kwanzaa Celebration at Weisser Park Youth Center, and so I said 'What are we going to do from now until March, which is our next session, the end of March? I said 'You know what, lets do a black history tour. People are calling and asking any way, so I said 'Lets set it up. We decided since it's the city of churches, lets go ahead and start reaching out to our community, and why not start with the first church in the African American community," CEO and Founder Adrian Curry said.
Next Sunday (February 10th) they will be performing at Come As You Are Unity Church.
