FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Nearly 50 college students watched the State of the Union together at IPFW.

The university's political science department hosted a watch party.

Before the President's speech, the students participated in a panel discussion.

Students said it's important for their peers to get involved and pay attention to politics.

"We are a very active group as in saying things that we believe in, but we're not active in showing up in the polls, we're not active in knocking on doors, calling people trying to get out the vote," said Brandon Blumenhurst, Political Science student.

Forty-five students were at the watch party this evening.
