FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Just because students weren't in class Tuesday didn't mean they weren't learning.
Indiana teachers flooded the Indiana State House for "Red for Ed" Action Day, which meant many schools were not in session.
Though a weekly event, "Storytime" at Barnes & Noble (Jefferson Pointe) came just in time for students to remain engaged outside of the classroom.
Young students and their parents circled around Barnes & Noble Children's lead, Kathy England, as she read page for page and opened her eyes wide for effect.
England said, "a lot of parents and students came in today."
A testament to the power of Red for Ed, but also to the hands-on work of parents with their children, "Storytime" proved to be a haven for kids still wanting to dive into the wonders of learning...even if not at their desks.
The bookstore hosts "Storytime" every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. in the children's section of the store.
