FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - The holiday season is coming to a close, but shoppers are still out and about ahead of the new year.
Shoppers spent around $850 billion between November 1st and Christmas Eve. From gift cards to gift exchanges, many people still have some stores to hit.
Apple Fenton and her daughter, Kendall, had a girls' day Sunday at Jefferson Pointe.
"So we can spend some time together after all the rushing for Christmas and buying gifts..." Fenton said.
Many stores have the sales signs up, clearing out the holiday merchandise, and Fenton said those are the deals she's looking for.
"We're just seeing what's out there. Seeing what sales are out there and looking for extra winter gear," She said.
Steve Rahn was assigned to watch the bags while his family spent those Christmas gift cards.
"They have to use those gift cards and there's some good sales. And...we've already purchased some luggage and other things that were on sale, so it's been a good day, and it's just fun to come out," Rahn said.
Manu Armstrong is not normally a shopper, but she said she's seen some good deals, and enjoyed seeing the remaining Christmas decorations.
"They do have good sales...Barnes and Noble and Yankee Candle," she said.
But if shoppers don't find the deals they wanted, they're still enjoying time with family.
