FORT WAYNE, Ind (WFFT) - Monday morning kicked off the 41st annual Senior Games in Fort Wayne.
The opening ceremony began with a lighting of the torch at the Community Center in Downtown Fort Wayne as well as a friendly game of corn hole between Mayor Tom Henry and a few of the senior athletes.

The 35 plus events will take place over the next three weeks with the goal of the event to get seniors over 50 to adopt a healthy, enjoyable lifestyle with a little competitive edge if they wish.
Fort Wayne Parks Department Director Steve McDaniel says the the popularity of the event is what has kept it going over the years.
McDaniel said, "We’ve gone into our 41st year. It’s obviously something they look forward to and it’s something that gets people out and active. I think that shows our community really likes doing it."
