FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- For the last 8 years Santa Joe has been paying it forward.

"Somebody donated me about a thousand toys and told me I had to give them out," Joe Runyon said.

He's been doing it ever since, but lately, Santa Joe's donations haven't been enough.
He's hoping to turn that around with your help.

"It makes me happy. It makes the people that help with this every year happy. It shows joy to the community. The smiles on the kids faces is worth everything,"Runyon added.

Over 300 children are helped through Santa Joe's gift giveaway and this is only a portion of the donations. Santa Joe said he needs a whole lot more because he never wants to turn away any families.

“We're way behind from last year. Last year we had to turn away kids. I would hate to do that. We're slowly getting there and the deadline is this week on the toy donations so hopefully they'll be coming in," he said.

Santa Joe is planning a toy giveaway at Parkview Field December 22nd at 5:30.

He and his helpers are planning to do gift wrapping this Saturday.

Toys can be dropped off at Friends Too restaurant, and 1301 Wall Street in Fort Wayne.

Runyon said if you’re bringing unwrapped gifts, make sure you put them in a plastic bag.
