All smiles today as volunteers piled up their cars with delicious food for a great cause.
SCAN’s 35th annual Brown Bag lunch aims to support children and families in Northern Indiana.
Chief philanthropy officer, Mandy Drakeford says, "One lunch is really helping give one hour of service to a family. That could be family therapy, working through some abuse and neglect and helping them heal through that abuse and neglect they may have experienced."
For over three decades, Casa Italian restaurant has partnered with SCAN to prepare 3,000 lunches, made with love.
The executive chef, Al Tholen says, "I really feel that getting out in the community and doing events of this nature, first and foremost is the right thing to do."
Some volunteers even drove from Ohio to get in on the action of distributing meals to those who donated to this cause.
"Of course we love to help them in any way we can. It's a no-brainer! As soon as they asked we were jumpin' and ready to go,” said volunteers Jordan Knieper and Sam Lueck.
Retired educators David Beer and Dean Gorsuch made three stops for the organization.
The dynamic duo says they've been bestfriends since the 1950's when they met at Ball State University and have been volunteering for SCAN for the entire 35 years they’ve been active.
