Residents evacuate after fire at West Wind Apartments

A fire at West Wind apartments kills two cats.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Four people escaped an apartment fire Thursday evening.

It started around 8:30 p.m. at 2226 Point West Drive, in the West Wind Apartment complex.

Firefighters said the fire started in a lower level apartment.

Firefighters helped one woman escape the fire from a third floor balcony.

Two cats died in the fire.

The cause is under investigation.
