FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- The Electric Works project looks rejuvenated after Tuesday's announcement for another developer to come in, but there's still one more hurdle for developers to jump over.
That big hurdle is the Redevelopment Commission.
RTM Ventures and Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020 announced that a tentative agreement has been reached to move the Electric Works project forward.
"The developers couldn't bring it all together, they didn't have the cash or structure," says Steve Corona.
Corona is on the board of the Redevelopment Commission.
He says he like many others were excited when RTM Ventures first came on board back in 2017 with the project, but many months of extensions and other problems would come up.
It would lead the group to terminate the economic agreement with the city and the developer.
"The amount of money they need to get this over the goal line, they're in the red zone... let's get this over the goal line," he says.
The Ash Group, a team that has its footprint already in the city of Fort Wayne, has Corona excited.
He says the group joining forces with RTM Ventures will help the financials, and he believes the project will work.
The next question would be, how many of his fellow members feel the same.
"I think there's a majority of members that will agree with moving forward."
