FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Allen County Coroner’s Office has identified the man who was found dead in a Fort Wayne river downtown Tuesday morning.
Just after 8:40 a.m. Tuesday, first responders in Fort Wayne responded to a water rescue in the Maumee River near the area of Spy Run Avenue and Lafayette Street downtown.
The body was later found by first responders near the 700 block of Edgewater Avenue.
Fort Wayne Fire Department recovered the decedent and removed the body from the river.
Death was pronounced on scene by the paramedics.
The victim was identified as 28-year-old Alexander Ray Turner from Fort Wayne.
Turner was reported missing to the Fort Wayne Police Department on April 29 by family members.
The coroner said Turner's cause of death is asphyxia due to drowning and the manner of death is an accident.
