FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - VeoRide, the company behind Fort Wayne's first-ever rental scooter program, is making sure having them works out for everyone.
“I typically make sure I put them in a designated park area and leave them upright and that way they don’t have a chance of being ran over,” Rylie Buckmaster said.
However, not everyone does that.
Here's what Veo Fleet Coordinator Eric Xayarath said should be done.
"We ask that if you're ending your ride. Please make sure you park the scooters or bikes properly, and we want to make sure we go to any bike racks near. That's where we would like the scooters and bikes parked," he explained.
He also said the scooters should be at least four feet from the curb and not blocking the sidewalk with the scooter in standing position.
If not, you could be fined up to $30.
An incentive program is in the works to prevent this from happening.
"Right now we're trying to reward customers who properly park. That would mean if you properly put it next to a bike rack or you're getting it four and a half feet away from the walkways, you could potentially be given ride credits,” he added.
You don't have to be a rider f you see a misused or damaged scooter.
