PAULDING, Ohio (WFFT) — Authorities say a northwestern Ohio county leader was found dead on his property Monday morning.
At around 11 a.m., deputies with the Paulding County Sheriff's Department were called to 17089 Road 133 in the village of Cecil, for a report of a dead body.
Sheriff Jason Landers says deputies discovered the body of Paulding County Commissioner Clint A. Vance, 30, "with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound."
“This is a very sad day for a lot of people,” said Sheriff Landers. “The community will grieve in different ways, but the business of the county will continue.”
Vance was found in an outbuilding on his farm.
He began his term as one of three county commissioners in January.
"It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our fellow Commissioner, Mr. Clint A. Vance. We welcomed Commissioner Vance into our family in January of this year. Commissioner Vance wanted nothing more than to proudly serve the residents of Paulding County. At this time, we ask that you keep his family and friends close in prayer. Thank you," the Paulding County Commissioners Office said in a statement.
Landers says no other information is expected to be released.
