One dead in second Easter shooting

Police responded just after 10:00 a.m. to the back of 3916 Newport Avenue. When they arrived they found a man between two apartment buildings.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- Police are investigating a second Easter shooting that left one man dead. 

Police responded just after 10:00 a.m. to the back of 3916 Newport Avenue. When they arrived they found a man between two apartment buildings. He was suffering from a gunshot wound, and pronounced dead at the scene. 

911 callers reported hearing gunshots and screams before cops arrived. Police said this is a heavily populated area. They're hoping someone in the area saw a suspect or vehicle leaving the area. 

The name of the victim will be released by the Allen County Coroner's Office. If anyone has information, you're asked to contact the Fort Wayne Detective's Bureau at 427-1201. 

The shooting remains under investigation.
