FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- Fort Wayne police say a cyclist is dead after he was hit by a car after crossing a number of lanes of traffic on Lima Road Monday night.
It happened around 8:45 p.m. on Lima Road over Interstate 69.
Police found the male victim unresponsive suffering from life-threatening injuries.
Witnesses told police the bicyclist was going north in the far outside lane and came across all lanes of traffic and stopped in the inside lane.
The driver of the car was not able to stop and hit the victim.
The victim was also wearing dark clothing and his bicycle was dark, which officers say may have contributed to the crash.
The identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.
