Car one, a 2018 Honda Fit, was driving the wrong way in the westbound lanes of U.S. 30.
Investigators said the Honda crashed into car two, a 2006 Chevrolet Impala going westbound, which was driven by 25-year-old Luke Schimmoeller of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The driver of the Honda Fit, identified as 43-year-old Brad Morris of Convoy, was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. Scott Jarvis, Van Wert County coroner.
Troopers said both Schimmoeller, and his passenger, Amy Schimmoeller were transported to St. Ritas Hosptial in Lima, for serious injuries.
Officers said the westbound lanes of U.S. 30 near Convoy Road were shut down for several hours as crews cleaned up the scene.
They said alcohol is believed to be a factor in connection to the driver of the Honda.
This crash remains under investigation.
