FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — The Lane 201 Boutique staff was thrilled when New Haven Police found their stolen trailer, but only for a moment after finding what was left inside.
“It's a bummer, we kind of almost wish we still had the clothes and not the trailer,” said Jill Hesterman, Lane 201 Boutique owner. “There was at least $10,000 worth of inventory, maybe more, like 500 or 600 pieces.”
Hesterman was using the trailer to shelve inventory while organizing their new warehouse space when the trailer vanished sometime between May 19 and May 20.
“We ship orders every day and people are still ordering those items so we went out to look for one of those items in the trailer,” Hesterman said. “ That’s when we saw it was not there.”
New Haven Police located the trailer on South Anthony Boulevard on May 23.
“They called us over the weekend and said our trailer was parked in someone’s yard,” Hesterman said. “They told us to come to pick it up, and when we did it was completely empty.”
Hesterman said the Lane 201 Boutique staff is looking forward to welcoming customers back June 15 and hopes walk-in customers coming back will help make up for the inventory that was stolen.
Anyone who has seen the items for sale or being worn is asked to contact the Lane 201 Boutique directly or call Crime Stoppers at (260) 436-STOP.
