NEW HAVEN, Ind. (WFFT) — City leaders in New Haven were sworn in on Tuesday afternoon, just in time for the new decade at the New Haven Community Center.
Mayor Steve McMichael is now the 7th mayor of New Haven after winning November’s election when his predecessor Terry McDonald announced he would not run for reelection.


“I’m looking forward to serving the residents as their new mayor and building on the foundation that Mayor McDonald and previous city council officials put into place.” McMichael said. “This is a new decade with new leadership and new vision and we’re ready to go."
Fort Wayne City Clerk Lana Keesling swore-in the new mayor and the New Haven Clerk-Treasurer Natalie Strock.
After Strock was swore-in the rest of New Haven’s newly-elected city officials we sworn-in by her.
Jeff Turner, Michael Mowery and Matthew Kennedy are the newest members to the New Haven City Council.
McMichael said he wants better communication with the community going into his first year.
He says the city will grow its presence on social media, they now have a Facebook page.
