FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) — Fort Wayne police are continuing to investigate the shooting of a man at 3411 Senate Ave. Monday morning.
Investigators labeled 16 bullet holes on the side of the house.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds, indicating the man was struck by more than one of the rounds.
FWPD officers have remained on the scene since responding to the gunfire at 12:07 a.m.
Dorothy Carroll moved onto Senate Ave. this past June.
She described the area as being calm during her first few months living there.
“I see my neighbors as hard-working people who want to take care of their families,” Carroll said. “They just want the same things that I have.”
Carroll hopes that this shooting serves as a wake-up call for residents of the area.
“There is no way for someone to not be affected, but you can’t let it discourage you,” Carroll said. “We need to try and keep our community and neighborhood as safe as we can. And not give up on the neighborhood just because we had an incident.”
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1201 or 260-436-STOP.
