FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- During this pandemic, even some basic needs are going unmet.
Janet Didier with The Christ Child Society says no matter how hard life gets, no child should go without a coat. Didier says, “There is no judgment with this. Absolutely no judgment. If that child needs a coat, that child is going to get a coat.”
Now through Oct. 30, families can contact the organization for a brand-new winter coat, mittens, hat and a scarf for up to three kids per family.
Didier says usually they would personally deliver the coats to the schools, but COVID-19 has changed that this year.
Didier adds, “We’re working through the fraternal order of police. They have been awesome in delivering coats to the school.”
Local mom Amy Carpenter says this organization is a huge blessing to parents in the midst of the times we’re living in.
Carpenter says, “Maybe someone is praying and crying out to God for a need and this organization just shows up.”
Didier says they are inspired to keep doing The Lord’s work, even during a pandemic.
She says, “This ministry is in our hearts because we do it for the kids.”
Carpenter says no matter what a family is going through, having support from the community is what will get us through trying times.
Carpenter adds, “It’s humbling to ask for help but I pray that every family will take advantage of this opportunity.”
