ANGOLA, Ind. (WFFT) -- Trine University announced Thursday it will make masks optional on-campus starting May 10.
University officials said the low COVID-19 infection rate on campus and around the state led them to this decision.
Director of Communications James Tew said May 10 is an ideal date because it’s the beginning of the summer term.
“The campus won’t be quite as full as normal,” Tew said. “The plan is that when everybody comes back for the fall in full force in august that the vast majority of our campus community will be vaccinated.”
Masks will still be required at commencement on May 8.
Any camps or groups on campus this summer will get COVID tests and have temperature checks frequently.
