Man critically hurt after being hit on South Anthony Blvd.

A man is in critical condition after being hit at the intersection of South Anthony and Simons Street Friday night.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- A man is in critical condition after being hit at the intersection of South Anthony and Simons Street Friday night. 

Police responded just after 6:00 p.m. Officers found the victim lying in the middle of the road after being hit by a GMC Envoy. 

Paramedics took the man to a local hospital in serious condition. He was later downgraded to critical condition. 

Witnesses told police the victim was walking down the middle of Anthony Blvd. wearing all dark clothing. One witness said they had to swerve to miss him. 

The driver of the GMC Envoy was northbound when they hit the victim. The driver and two passengers in the vehicle were not hurt. They stayed on the scene and cooperated with police. 

Drugs and Alcohol did not appear to be factors in the crash. 

South Anthony Blvd. was closed but reopened to traffic around 9:20 p.m.
