FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) - Families of sick children at Dupont Hospital can now leave their child's side without having to go far.
Mad Anthony's Children’s Hope House is now at Dupont Hospital's Medical Center.
"It meets the community need. We have several NICU guests within our facility. Often than not, there are catastrophic challenging moments and this is just another way we run a good service to the community by providing them a place to stay at no cost," Dupont Hospital CEO Lorenzo Suteo said.
There are four new bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, laundry facilities, and community bathrooms.
"The four rooms that we've expanded to here will be able to house the equivalent of 4 families for as long as they need to stay. Typically they'll stay anywhere from 1 to 14 nights and that will give us 1,460 additional nights that we're able to host families here in Fort Wayne," Mad Anthony’s Executive Director Melissa Dessaigne said.
These suites are an extension of the services offered at Lutheran and St. Joseph's Hospital since 2017.
The first family used this service Monday after the ribbon cutting.
