FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT)- Martin Luther King, Jr. Montessori School hosted the kickoff to Fort Wayne Volunteer Center's 20th annual Coats for Kids Campaign.
The school’s executive director, Greta McKinney and Fort Wayne Volunteer Center director, Ani Etter, gave students brand new winter coats to brave the winter.
The campaign plans to decrease the amount of poverty in Fort Wayne, helping the 26% of Allen County children living in poorer conditions.
McKinney says, “There should never be a reason a child doesn’t have a warm coat in the winter.”
Donations including more coats, hats, scarves, and monetary gifts are being accepted through Sunday, Dec. 1.
Online donations are accepted at their website.
